Я заплуталась з Past simple і Past continuous. Допомога потрібна

Я бы написала :
I was swimming when I Saw a group of dolphins. They were swimming towards me. Some of them were very big. They didn’t see me. The water was warm and clean. It was so calm. While I was watching small fish and sea stars, something touched me. I scared. But it was one of the fish, that I didn’t notice.

Если она наблюдала, то это продолжительное действия. Пока плавала, наблюдала. Тогда я бы написала I was watching fish and sea stars... Watched конечно тоже возможно, но в контексте это длительное действие, как по мне.
👍 только I was scared. А лучше I got scared. Past participle Scared в данном случае прилагательное. Нет глагола.
